I was driving my pickup 75mph down the highway in the winter. The roads were salted and easy to drive. Then I went around a long gentle curve lined with trees and I must have passed over a county line, because all of a sudden I was driving on white ice way too fast, still in the curve.
There were cars lining the outside of the curve in the ditch. This is another one of those slow motion panic instances where my clearest memory is the panicked look on the faces of the people staring at me.
I was smart enough not to hit the brakes. My back end started sliding out, then I turned the front wheels to follow the road. Now I was drifting the curve at an angle. I remember gunning the gas as well, but that doesn’t sound right, so maybe I’m just remembering the sound of the back tires spinning...
(It’s important to note that I learned my lesson before this incident. I did NOT have the cruise control on)
Anyway, nothing happened, I made it around the corner and corrected the slide. Then I pulled off the road and shook for while before driving off.
The reason this one hit me harder than the ones caused by my own stupidity is that it WASN’T caused by me, It was just plain unexpected. I could have killed any one of those people on the side of the road as well as myself, and my only wrong was not driving cautiously.

I am one of those people that assumes my car will always be in good condition. With my busy life, maintenance never reaches the top of my priority list.
After joining Collision Guard I realized that my vehicle needs to be in the best of shape in order to keep me safe. Using my membership discounts for things like oil changes, new tires, and brakes I have saved money while improving my chances of staying safe. Now that my car is in order I can focus on my driving.
Crash Dummy

Being a teenager, I find that I am often a distracted driving offender. There are so many things to pay attention to in the car, like my phone, or my friends, or the radio. My mom was always telling me that I needed to pay better attention on the roads, but I figured it was no big deal, that I could handle it. That was until, while driving with the radio loud and my friends in the car, I got into an accident. My car was totaled. Luckily, no one was injured, but the impact that crash had on my life is ongoing. Thanks to Collision Guard, I’ve pledged to be a safe teen driver. It feels good knowing that I might be the reason that my streets are a little safer.
